I have always had an interest in beauty even before leaving school, so couldn’t wait to start learning. I then researched the options available and found Beauty NVQ Level 2 course at Bletchley College, Milton Keynes.
I completed the 1 year course studying waxing, facials, make up, manicures, pedicures, and many eye treatments. I thoroughly enjoyed the course learning and working with the girls in my class and I gained confidence from working on the clients during our salon sessions.
When I moved to Bedford and enrolled at Bedford College on a 2 year Holistic Therapy Diploma course. During my first year I studied facials, Swedish massage, aromatherapy (using pre-blended oils), reflexology and Indian head massage.

I studied Stress Management, On-Site Massage and Aromatherapy (non Pre-Blended oils). This is where I learnt how to mix essential oils and adapt them to different clients and different needs. This also allowed me to develop my skills in the holistic field which is where my passion lies.
To gain further experience I decided to find a position in a Beauty salon to fully appreciate working in a professional salon environment. I visited many beauty salons in the area and felt that Matis Beauty offered me the best opportunity to further my career.
I like to work at the highest level in the beauty industry and to travel the world via Cruise Liners using my skills.
In my short time working at Matis Beauty I have found they work to a very high standard whilst maintaining a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. We have a wide range of treatments where relaxation of the mind, body and soul are incorporated and I have also been able to add Reflexology to the services offered to give a more completed sense of well being.
I look forward to carrying out your treatments.

I became interested in both beauty and hairdressing at a young age. Dressing up, putting on make-up and playing with peoples hair was all fascinating to me, and still is even to this day. I like making people feel good about themselves as it is a very rewarding experience.
I started a combined course of Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy at Bedford. I completed my NVQ Level 2 where I won an award for outstanding achievement in Beauty Therapy, which was a great honour and completely unexpected, so I then decided to continue my NVQ level 3 in Advanced Beauty Therapy.

When asked why I choose to continue in Beauty Therapy instead of Hairdressing, it is because Beauty Therapy is a lot more challenging and there is a lot more involved. What interests me most is the anatomy and physiology, the bodies systems, how they work and how the body reacts to the treatments I perform.
I am passionate about beauty therapy and it’s great to be working with people who feel the same about beauty as I do. Eventually I would love to become a beauty therapy lecturer and pass on my enthusiasm for beauty to students wanting to learn all I have learnt.
Since starting at Matis Beauty, I have learnt a lot about the treatments that we perform and it has fed my passion for beauty therapy. I’ve picked up a lot by listening to my more experienced colleagues about client care and performance in treatments. When people ask what my favourite treatment is it’s hard to answer because all treatments are different and that’s what I like about my job. Matis Beauty is an inspirational place to work and I am glad I can be apart of it.

I started working as a Saturday girl in a Hair Salon in 2003 and wished to pursue a career within the hair and beauty industry. I have always enjoyed keeping up with new fashion trends, learning how to apply make-up for different occasions and on how different treatments can help keep you young and healthy, and so the beauty industry was a natural choice for me to develop my skills.

I started my training at Bedford College, where I studied Hair Dressing and Beauty Therapy. After 2 Years I gained my qualifications in NVQ level 2 and although I thoroughly enjoyed the Hair side of the course, I decided to focus on Beauty therapy as I found it more interesting and I realised that was where my true passion lies. I am currently in my last year at college to complete my training.
Since joining Matis, I have developed even further as a therapist, becoming confident, professional and ambitious. One of the things I enjoy most about working at Matis, is the continued effort to make every treatment a relaxing experience, from pampering body treatments even down to the simple yet effective eyebrow shape.
